Badlands 4 or 5 Day Adventures

Trip Snapshot:

Duration: choose from a 4 or 5 day adventure.

Difficulty level: Appropriate for all ages 4+

Departure location: Fort Benton, MT

Overview

Montana’s Badlands aka “The Missouri River Breaks” are less traveled, wilder and absolutely stunning.

The Monument borders expand significantly as the landscape steepens, becomes more rugged and far reaching. Visit several in-tact homesteads, catch sight of trophy-size Bighorn Sheep, cross the Nez Perce Historic Trail, explore dinosaur bone beds and revel in the multi-colored, vast landscape. Hike above the river at various points to absorb the magnificent view. The ‘Breaks’ refers to how the land appears from above - as though the braided, twisted and numerous drainages leading down to the river have broken the landscape. One can always feel a slight or major change when you push off from Judith Landing and head downriver into the marvelous Badlands. Most importantly, immerse yourself in this wild, remote landscape and disconnect from the pressures of life, work and modernity.

Missouri River Montana History Undaunted Courage

The difference between our 4 and 5 day trips:

The main difference is the inclusion of a layover day. What is a layover day, you might ask? Well, it’s a day we stay at the same campsite for two nights in row. On this day, you don’t have to worry about packing up any of your belongings or gear. We offer a longer hiking option. We use the entire day to hike, explore, relax, swim, play games and enjoy the riverside setting.
